SEO (Yoast and Rank Math)

When Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active, the document carries an seo object. Octa Editor maps it to whichever plugin is installed, so your documents stay plugin-neutral.

"seo": { "title": "SEO title", "description": "SEO description." }

The seo block behaves partial-first, like the rest of the document.

  • Omit seo for no change.
  • Set a value to "" or null to clear the override and fall back to the SEO plugin’s default template.

If the default template is enough, leave the whole seo block out.

Write template variables in the active plugin’s own syntax. The two plugins differ.

  • Yoast uses double percent signs, such as %%title%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%.
  • Rank Math uses single percent signs, such as %title% %sep% %sitename%.

Check _meta.providers.seo in a pattern export to see which plugin is active before writing values. Always express brand and separator through variables rather than hard-coding them.

Values in seo.* are plain text. Any HTML is stripped.
